What Makes Jeep Fans so Loyal?
If you run a business, you’ll agree with me that it’s not an easy task to build brand loyalty. We can understand why Starbucks and McDonald’s get all the following, love and patronage. Those are foods and beverages, and people need those to survive. But when an automobile brand builds such unbelievable loyalty and trust, you can’t help but wonder what they are doing right. That is the case with Jeep. But what exactly is it that makes Jeep fans so loyal?
In 2018, Jeep became the only automobile brand to be recognized as a “Cult Brand” by the Society of Cult Brands in Alberta, Canada. That feat was achieved by decades of simply keeping true to what the brand stands for. From those original Army trucks in 1941 to a plethora of models and designs today, it has been a long road (driven off-road by the way) of consistency and growth all at the same time.
Howard Schultz once said that people need to share values with you as a company for loyalty to be established. We’ve seen how true those words are with the Jeep experience. As one of the world’s most popular makers of SUVs and Crossovers, the brand has continued to thrill its fans with amazing new releases with improved designs, innovations, and modifications, while preserving the legacy and heritage that the vehicles are known for.
The brand launched at least five new models for the year 2020 including the 2020 Jeep Compass, the 2020 Jeep Renegade, the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Wrangler, and the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have remained the best-selling Jeep models of all time. Altogether, Jeep sold 973,227 vehicles in the US alone in 2018. Even with COVID-19 leading to a 22percent drop in sales in 2020, it is impossible to deny how popular Jeep is within the automobile industry.
But why are Jeep fans so loyal?
There are so many reasons why Jeep fans love the brand. Before we go on to those details, it is important to state that there are those who have been bitten by the Jeep bug; they just love it- with or without a reason. That said, here are some reasons Jeep fans are loyal;
- Affordable to Own
There’s a big difference between the cost of purchase and cost of ownership. Over time, certain cars tend to eat up so much money within their lifespan. This is not the case with Jeep. In fact, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler was named the best 5-year Cost to Own Offroader by Kelley Blue Book. As an SUV, Jeep is relatively pretty affordable compared to other brands, and helping you save the cost of ownership over a period of time seems like another good reason for anyone to want to stay loyal.
- Easy to Drive
Jeeps are also very easy to drive generally and compared to other SUVs. One good thing about Jeep is that while it is a relatively large vehicle, it doesn’t feel that way. Its boxy shape and ergonomic handling make this vehicle a very easy one to drive. You can already guess how this makes it easier to maneuver tight spaces and corners. Jeeps are very easy to modify as well and to customize to fit your driving needs.
- Low Insurance Cost
For some reason, Jeep (especially the Wrangler) is actually a very cheap vehicle to insure. In fact, a 2015 report by the Chicago Tribune reveals that the Jeep Wrangler is the least expensive car to insure. Nobody wants to bear outrageous costs in the name of insurance, so this is certainly a factor that makes Jeep fans loyal.
- Status Symbol
You can’t deny how vain we can be as humans. I mean; if owning a Jeep is going to cause a stir anytime I drive by or make me feel hip and trendy, then I’ll probably get one and strive to own every new model that is released. Imagine how popular it has become among high schoolers and college students and how millions have chosen the brand as their preferred vehicle for sporting and recreational purposes and you’ll see what I mean.
- It is Made in the US
The United States is still the largest market for Jeep to date. It is logical to believe that many Jeep lovers are loyal fans of the brand because it represents America. Whether it’s patriotism or just the need to support the American economy, Almost a million Jeep vehicles are purchased in the United States annually, according to data from 2016 to 2019.
Other reasons why Jeep fans are loyal may include its iconic design, the fact that the vehicle is great for all weather and terrains, and it’s amazing engine types which can run for very long periods. Personally, the history of the brand makes me marvel all the time. The fact that the company has managed to maintain that militarized look for about seven decades is extraordinary, even with frequent upgrades to continue to make the brand competitive and relevant in today’s world.
